Abstract. This article considers the cultural influence of the famous Russian family Semenov-Tian-Shanskii on the Russian-Finnish relations. Particular attention is paid on the views of Pietr Semenov-Tian- Shanskii and his son Valery to the crucial issues of political and cultural life of Finland. The article is based on unpublished sources of the personal archive of emigrated after the October Revolution to Finland Valery Semenov-Tian-Shanskii, which are stored in the Bakhmeteff Archive, Columbia University in the USA.
